IU officials confirmed that Ben Allen has left the men's basketball program and intends to transfer.
Allen played in 24 games at IU a year ago, averaging 0.8 points, 1.5 rebounds and 8.8 minutes.
"We appreciate Ben's efforts at Indiana and we wish him nothing but the best in the future," IU Coach Kelvin Sampson said in a prepared statement.
The Ft. Wayne News Sentinel first reported Allen's intentions to transfer on its website Wednesday. The paper reported that Allen intended to transfer to St. Mary's (Cal.) University, a program that has a pair of Australian players on its roster – Carlin Hughes and Lucas Walker. Allen recently played with Hughes and Walker on the Australian World University Games team that played 17th in Bangkok, Thailand.
