Larry Black, DT, Wyoming (Ohio) H.S. – Wyoming (4-1) knocked Finneytown from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 41-12 win Friday night. The win sets up a big match-up with Cincinnati Hills H.S. next week, which enters the game 5-0.

Shane Covington, RB/WR, Milwaukee (Wis.) Riverside H.S. – Riverside continued its bizarre turnaround, posting its third straight shutout with a 28-0 win over Milwaukee Hamilton. After being outscored 90-6 in its first two non-conference games, Riverside Whas outscored its last three league foes 123-0 to improve to 3-2. Covington threw for 142 yards and a touchdown in the win, while the Riverside defense limited Hamilton to 147 yards and eight first downs.

Marc Damisch, OL, Buffalo Grove (Ill.) H.S. – Buffalo Grove (2-3) picked up its second win of the year with a 35-21 win over Elk Grove. In the first quarter, BG blocked a punt set up its first score then returned another punt 68 yards for a touchdown to go up 14-0.

Tandon Doss, WR, Indianapolis (Ind.) Ben Davis H.S. – Doss had another huge game at tailback, piling up 192 yards on 19 carries to go along with three touchdowns, leading Ben Davis (4-2) to a 31-20 win over Terre Haute South (2-4). Doss opened the game's scoring with a 35-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, added a five-yard run in the second, and then capped his day with an 88-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Doss added one reception for 10 yards. Doss has 91 carries for 734 yards this year and also has 21 receptions for 343 yards and has totaled 12 touchdowns.

Adam Follett, QB, Alma (Mich.) Senior H.S. – Follett threw three first-half touchdowns to lead Alma H.S. (5-0) to a 48-29 win over Freeland H.S. Follett completed 11-of-24 passes for 203 yards and had one interception in the win. In five games, Follett is 52-of-108 for 831 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions.

Alex Hunt, RB, Buford (Ga.) H.S. – The top-ranked team in Class AA, Buford crushed its fourth straight foe, pounding Norcross Wesleyan 49-6. Buford got caught with only 10 defenders on the field on the second play from scrimmage and Wesleyan hit them with an 86-yard touchdown pass. That was the only bright spot for Wesleyan, which then gave up 49 unanswered points. Buford rushed for 250 yards in the game, and Hunt scored one touchdown. Buford has outscored its first three foes 186-19.

Will Matte, OL, Wheaton (Ill.) Warrenville South H.S. – The defending Illinois Class 8A state champions picked up their 19th straight win, whipping Naperville Central 26-7 to improve to 5-0. Matte and the WWS offensive line paved the way for running back Francis Adarkwa, who carried 32 times for 178 yards.

Mick Mentzer, DT, Ft. Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Dwenger H.S. – The second-ranked team in the state in Class 5A, Dwenger improved to 6-0 with a dominating 40-8 win over Ft. Wayne Wayne. Dwenger raced to a 30-8 halftime lead and wasn't challenged in the second half.

Justin Pagan, OL, Chicago (Ill.) St. Patrick H.S. – After breaking out offensively and posting a 35-7 win over St. Joseph's last week, St. Patrick H.S. (2-3) was shutout by Marist H.S. 10-0.

Peter St. Fort, DB, Naples (Fla.) – Golden Gate H.S. – Golden Gate (1-3) dropped its 3A District 14 opener to Lely H.S., 18-17. Golden Gate was driving for a potential game-winning field goal, but quarterback Mike Spano's pass was intercepted to bring a halt to the drive. Golden Gate was plagued by drops and penalties in the game, and also lost star defensive end Anthony Mains to an ejection after he kicked a Lely player who chop-blocked him.

Chad Sherer, LB/S, Arcadia (Ind.) Hamilton Heights H.S. – Sherer carried 16 times for 72 yards and three touchdowns, but it was Hamilton Heights' defensive effort that stood out in a 49-0 win over Taylor. HH limited their foes to 52 yards of total offense and one first down in the win. Sherer scored on runs of three, 16 and 12 yards and also caught two passes for 34 yards. On the year, Sherer has 106 carries for 676 yards and 14 touchdowns to go along with the one kickoff return for a score.

Nick Sliger, DT, Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton SE H.S. –Hamilton Southeastern pulled out its third straight narrow victory, knocking off Westfield 24-22. HSE jumped to a 21-10 halftime lead, aided by a 17-yard fumble return for a score by Sliger. But Westfield responded with a pair of touchdowns in the second half to go up 22-21 with seven minutes remaining. But HSE's Eric Malm kicked a 32-yard field goal and HSE's defense recovered a Westfield fumble in the final minute to secure the victory and improve to 5-1.

Cortez Smith, RB, Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech H.S. – Darren Williams ran for 220 yards on 23 carries to lead Detroit King (5-0) to a 35-14 win over Cass Tech (1-4). No stats were available. Cass Tech's offensive struggles continued, as it has scored only five offensive touchdown in five games.

Marquelo Suel, WR, Ft. Wayne (Ind.) Harding H.S. - Harding bounced back from a tough loss to Ft. Wayne Snider last week with a 38-10 win over Northrop. Suel did a little bit of everything. He got things going with a 79-yard run to open the game's scoring, added a three-yard reception for a score in the second quarter, and the added a 23-yard interception return for a TD in the fourth quarter.

A.J. Thompson, DT, Lakeland (Fla.) H.S. – We thought Thompson was on a team that couldn't win a game, but he's in fact on a squad that is eyeing its fifth consecutive district title this fall. Thompson transferred from Crittenden (Ky.) H.S. to Lakeland (Fla.) Katleen H.S. in the summer to live with his father. Kathleen improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the district with a 38-14 win over Lake Wales H.S. Top Stories
