Bloomington, Ind. - Kevin Jones will end the speculation about his college basketball future next Wednesday.
According to Scout.com National Recruiting Director Dave Telep, that's when the Mt. Vernon, N.Y., forward will hold a press conference at Mt. Vernon H.S. to announce his college choice. The time of the announcement remains undecided.
The 6'8", 195-pounder continues to weight a slew of scholarship offers. His brother, Gerard, told HoosierNation.com earlier this week that he's considering Indiana, Pitt, West Virginia, UMass, Seton Hall, Rutgers and St. John's.
Jones is the 48th-ranked player in the nation according to Scout.com and one of only six players in the top-50 who remains uncommitted before the start of the early signing period, which runs for a week and begins on the day Jones is set to announce his choice.
There was speculation Indiana had dropped off Jones' list after the resignation of his recruiting coach, Rob Senderoff. But Gerard Jones refuted that notion, instead saying his brother is "seriously considering" Indiana and that Coach Kelvin Sampson's team would be one of those considered down to the wire.
"(Senderoff's departure) was a huge loss, because Rob is a great guy, and being form the New York area," Gerard said. "He just got caught up in a bad circumstance. Everyone makes mistakes..That's the person we gained a rapport with for a long time. But give credit to Coach Sampson for gaining the rapport with us during that time,a nd actually being able to step in and continue to recruit Kevin as strong as he's been doing."
