According to a published report, Champaign, Ill., guard Verdell Jones will make an unofficial visit to IU today.
In a story published Thursday, Jones is quoted on Illinoishsbasketball.com saying he will be in Bloomington on Friday. He said Indiana is one of two programs to recently offer a scholarship along with Georgetown.
"I talked with (IU Coach Tom) Crean a little bit when he was at Marquette, but mostly to Coach (Tim) Buckley the head assistant," Jones told the website. "He (Crean) called when he got the Indiana job and just said they want me to be a Hoosier and are excited about me coming on a visit Friday."
While Indiana, Georgetown and Arizona new on the recruiting scene for Jones, he told the website he still favored Minnesota and Kentucky. He also said he plans to make a decision in approximately two weeks.
Jones averaged 17.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists as a senior.
