Bloomington – As if there wasn't enough drama with the IU basketball program these days, Eli Holman has reportedly added some more.

According to the Bloomington Herald Times, IU freshman Eli Holman asked to be released from his scholarship Wednesday, and became agitated during a meeting with IU Coach Tom Crean. The H-T reported that Holman became angry during the conversation and eventually broke a flower pot in the men's basketball office.

The basketball staff then reportedly called university police to the scene. When IUPD officers arrived Holman had calmed down and was speaking with IU Athletics Director Rick Greenspan, and was not arrested. Officers did take statements from Crean as well as other staff that witnessed the 6-9, 250-pound freshman's outburst.

According to the H-T, Crean was surprised to find out about Holman's intentions to leave the program. While the new IU coach didn't go into detail about what angered Holman, he did tell the newspaper that he was "not getting the answers he wanted."

Holman averaged 1.0 points and 1.7 rebounds in six games last year before being sidelined with a wrist injury.
