Bloomington – IU has officially offered a scholarship to Jordan Hulls.
The Hoosiers extended the scholarship offer Tuesday night at center court of Assembly Hall to the 6-0, 170-pound Bloomington (Ind.) South H.S. guard. Hulls also has offers from Evansville, Western Michigan, Toledo, Ohio, Vermont and Fairfield, and he's been getting a handful of big-name programs calling as of late.
"It's obviously a huge honor to be offered by a great school like IU," Hulls said. "Coach Crean is an extremely good coach and his style fits me well. So it's obviously a huge opportunity and a definite possibility."
The interest in Hulls has skyrocketed this spring thanks to his play with the Indiana Elite AAU squad. Hulls started getting interest from IU, Purdue and Duke after a big effort at the Pitt Jam Fest last month, and Hulls was named to the all-tourney team last weekend after Indiana Elite's run to the semifinals at the Jayhawk Invitational.
He said Stanford has also started showing interest, and he's headed up to Purdue today where Coach Matt Painter is expected to offer him as well.
Hulls' AAU teammate, IU commit Bobby Capobianco, has been glad to see Hulls getting so much recruiting attention as of late.
"Jordy has played this well every year," Capobianco said. "Everytime we come away from these tournaments and you read the write ups and you'd read things about Stephan (Van Treese) and Jordan Prosser, and you'd never hear anything about Colt (Ryan) and Jordan, and those are two guys we depend on so much. They've both been playing so well.
"I'm really happy Jordy is getting that recognition. He deserves it. He works so hard and is so skilled."
Hulls averaged 16.0 points and 2.2 steals as a junior at South while also leading the team with 52 3-pointers and 91 percent shooting from the free-throw line.
Hulls will be playing with Indiana Elite this weekend at the Adidas May Classic in Bloomington.
