Bloomington – Maurice Sutton has a big decision to make.

The 6-10, 210-pound big man is back home following his visit to Villanova earlier this week, and he knows how he's going to go about figuring out where to play his college basketball.

"Prayer is how I'm going to decide," Sutton said Friday. "Whenever it comes to me, that's when I'll decide."

One of the best big men still available in the 2008 recruiting class, Sutton is still considering three schools – Indiana, Villanova and Seton Hall. Sutton visited IU over the weekend following the Adidas May Classic, and then headed to Villanova on Wednesday for a first-hand look at Coach Jay Wright's program.

"The Villanova visit was really good," Sutton said. "Coach Wright is a really, really great coach. It's a family atmosphere there."

Each of the three programs are hoping they can secure a commitment from this long, athletic big man, who led Upper Maryland (Md.) Largo H.S. to the state championship this past season. Sutton averaged 18 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocks as a senior.

Indiana has been making a strong push for the big men, with IU Coach Tom Crean using one of his 10 days on the road to go to Maryland to meet with him and his family earlier this spring. Crean then sat down with Sutton again this weekend along with his father and his high school coach.

"Coach Crean is trying to bring the glory days back, and I have a lot of confidence he can bring it back," Sutton said. "I know he's going to do it."

But there's plenty to like about the two Big East schools as well. Sutton said he connected with the Villanova coaching staff and players during his visit, while nearby Seton Hall has long been a favorite of his.

"This is going to be a really tough decision," Sutton said.

Sutton said he plans to continue to talk to the coaches as he goes about making a final choice, and his intentions are to make his decision by the end of the spring signing period, which is May 21.

"I'm still taking it one day at a time," Sutton said. Top Stories
