Bloomington – Tom Crean's work with the 2008 recruiting class wasn't done after all.
HoosierNation.com has learned that Crean has received a verbal commitment from Malik Story, a 6-5, 190-pounder from Los Angeles, Cal. Story was in Bloomington this week for one of IU's Elite Camps and committed to the Hoosiers after the camp's conclusion.
Story originally verbally committed to play at USC as a sophomore before re-opening his recruitment. He was scheduled to visit Georgetown on Sunday, but cancelled that trip after making his IU pledge.
The Los Angeles product averaged 13.0 points as a sophomore and 14.7 points as a junior at Artesia H.S., helping his prep team to a 66-3 record during that two-year run. He then transferred to prep school powerhouse Oak Hill Academy before the start of his senior season. Story left Oak Hill and enrolled at Los Angeles' Ribet Academy, but was ruled ineligible to play basketball due to the late transfer.
Story is expected to give the Hoosiers a versatile wing who should help immediately. He'll be one of 11 new faces on IU's roster this fall.
