Bloomington – In the wake of a new major allegation levied against the IU Athletic Department by the NCAA earlier this month, IU Athletics Director Rick Greenspan will announce later this afternoon that he will resign at the end of 2008.
Indiana University has scheduled a 4:30 p.m. press conference at the Hoosier Room in Memorial Stadium to announce the resignation.
The announcement comes shortly after IU received word from the NCAA that it has charged the university with a sixth violation – failure to monitor. That allegation came down following IU's appearance before the NCAA Infractions Committee June 14-15 in Seattle, Wash., to defend itself against five charges.
HoosierNation.com will have more on the resignation later this afternoon.
