Bloomington – Indiana University is closing in on naming its new athletic director, and an announcement could come within the next 24 hours.
HoosierNation.com sources indicate that Rick Greenspan's replacement could be named as early as Tuesday morning. HoosierNation.com has also learned that Alumni Association employees have been informed that a press conference will be held at the Devault Alumni Center Tuesday, although the particulars of that press conference were not discussed.
The decision has been in the hands of IU President Michael McRobbie and IU Vice President Bill Stephan for several weeks. Stephan headed a 13-member athletic director search committee that provided its recommendations, but the ultimate decision has been left to McRobbie as well as Stephan.
At this point, the favorite to fill the vacancy could be Indianapolis attorney Fred Glass. A partner at Baker & Daniels, Glass was one of three finalists identified by the Indiana Business Journal this morning along with Oregon State Athletic Director Bob DeCarolis and IU Associate Athletic Director Scott Dolson.
HoosierNation.com will have more on this story as it develops.
