Bloomington – One of the state's top underclassmen received a couple of big scholarship offers Sunday.
HoosierNation.com has learned that Broad Ripple H.S. freshman Ronald Patterson was offered scholarships by both Indiana and Purdue Sunday. Purdue made the offer while Patterson was in West Lafayette along with a handful of other underclassmen for Sunday's game against Wisconsin. Among the others in attendance was Indianapolis North Central H.S. freshman D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, who was also offered a scholarship by Boilermaker coach Matt Painter.
Indiana has already offered Smith-Rivera, and it made its offer to Patterson when he called the IU staff Sunday. Patterson is scheduled to be in Bloomington for the Hoosiers' Jan. 25 game against Minnesota and is expected to sit down with IU Coach Tom Crean and his staff then.
Patterson is an ultra-athletic 6'3" guard who is averaging 12.8 points/game for Broad Ripple, which is 5-4 on the season. He had a couple of solid games this weekend, scoring 17 in a six-point loss to Howe H.S. on Friday and then chipping in 14 in a seven-point win over Westfield H.S. on Saturday.
