Bloomington – Avon sophomore Austin Burgett secured a second Big Ten scholarship offer on Tuesday.

During an unofficial visit to Evanston, Northwestern Coach Bill Carmody offered the 6'8" forward, making the Wildcats the fifth program to officially invite Burgett to be a part of its 2012 recruiting class. Northwestern joins Iowa, Cincinnati, Ohio and Delaware with offers on the table.

After steadily emerging as a promising prospect during his debut season at Avon, Burgett really started to turn heads this summer with his play on Chris Hawkins' loaded Spiece Indy Stars team. Playing alongside other top 2012 targets such as Broad Ripple's Ron Patterson, Southport's Kellon Thomas, Lawrence Central's Jeremy Hollowell and Sullivan's Rhett Smith, Burgett helped lead the Stars to a handful of deep tourney runs on the AAU circuit.

While the scholarship offers are beginning to pile up, Burgett said he's in no hurry to make a college decision.

"I'll probably decide during my junior year," Burgett said.

Indiana, meanwhile, continues to express interest in Burgett as well. He was in Bloomington earlier this summer for both the IU Basketball Team Camp as well as the Elite Camp, and IU Coach Tom Crean doesn't want Burgett to be a stranger to the IU campus.

"They want me to keep coming down for visits," Burgett said.
