Linebacker Says Yes To Indiana

Gerry DiNardo accepts the verbal commitment of Danville, Indiana linebacker Jake Powers last night while on an in-home visit.

"I was committed to Toledo but I've de-committed for Indiana," said linebacker Jake Powers.

"Indiana had offered me about two weeks ago and I visited last week. Everything just fell right into place.

"I spoke with the players, my host and the coaches and everything looked bright for the program plus they are thin at the linebacker spot.

"Toledo would have been great but I looked at it from a competition standpoint. I wanted to play in the Big Ten conference.

"Coach DiNardo was in my house last night and I gave him my official verbal commitment. My dad wasn't on my (Indiana) visit with me and I wanted to commit with my dad and coach DiNardo in the same room together.

"Indiana has a good business school and I can play early." Powers said.

Powers, a 6-foot-3, 210-pounder, from Danville, Indiana is a four-year varsity starter. In 2002, he 101 tackles, 80 solo tackles, two blocked punts and two sacks.

The two-way standout also had 1,050 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns as a running back. Top Stories
