Bloomington – Tom Crean has said one of the cornerstones of the IU program moving forward will be rebounding. With that in mind, it's no surprise that Will Yeguette is in town this weekend for his IU official visit.
If it's rebounding that Crean wants, Yeguette appears capable of delivering. The 6'7", 210-pound power forward from Florida Air Academy has drawn rave reviews from his prep school coach for his work in that area.
"He's been rebounding like crazy since day one," Florida Air Academy Coach Aubin Goporo told Scout.com's Dave Telep earlier this year.
Crean was able to see that first hand earlier this year when he was on hand for a three-game tournament during which Yeguette hauled down 50 rebounds. That piqued the IU coach's interest, and the Hoosiers quickly offered a scholarship.
Telep has also seen Yeguette first hand, and understands why the Hoosiers have a lot of interest.
"This time of year people are looking for two things - producers and character guys," Telep said. "After watching Will Yeguette haul in 50 rebounds in three camp games last fall, I was sure he could produce. An undersized power
forward, he's got a motor and the work ethic to get himself on the floor."
Adding a big man appears to be priority one for the Hoosiers during the spring signing period. Indiana already has a pair of guards – Will Sheehey and Victor Oladipo – signed and set to join an IU backcourt that returns Maurice Creek, Verdell Jones, Jeremiah Rivers and Jordan Hulls. While Derek Elston, Christian Watford, Bobby Capobianco, Tom Pritchard and Bawa Muniru all have plenty of eligibility remaining, it's obvious that adding some toughness up front is a need that Crean has identified during the season.
Hoosier Nation will have more on Yeguette's visit in the coming days.
