Top 2012 Prospect on Campus for Visit

Bloomington – One of Indiana's top Class of 2012 targets is on campus for a visit today.

Ron Patterson, the 6'3", 180-pound wing from Indianapolis' Broad Ripple H.S., is in Bloomington along with his mother and brother to talk with IU Coach Tom Crean and the Hoosier staff. The ultra-athletic high school sophomore is also expected to tour the new Cook Hall during his campus stop.

Patterson has been a top recruiting priority since 2009 when Indiana was one of the first to offer a scholarship. Patterson has since added a slew of scholarship offers from programs including Ohio State, Illinois, Tennessee, Xavier and Cincinnati, but Indiana has remained a program that he's keeping a close eye on.

While Cook Hall figures to be an added reason why Patterson likes the IU program, Crean remains the biggest draw.

"I like his energy and his passion," Patterson said.

Crean, meanwhile, has long liked what he's sees in Patterson. That's why he offered him so early, and why he welcomes the Indianapolis product to Bloomington as often as possible. He'd undoubtedly like to secure a verbal commitment from Patterson.

"He works me pretty hard," Patterson said. "But he tells me to take it all in and decide when you want to." Top Stories
