Cyclone Commitment Roundup Week 2

Only Cyclone Sports Report provides you with a complete rundown of how each of Iowa State's 2011 commitments fared during their games this past week.

Brock Dagel: The offensive tackle is the only returning starter for Cherokee (IA) Washington High School and it is showing early on as the young team is off to an 0-2 start to the season. They lost 46-14 in their opener to Storm Lake and 44-12 to Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn this past week. Brock hopes they can get their first victory of the season when they take on Maple Valley this Friday.

Sam Richardson: The Winter Park (FL) High School quarterback got off to a good start this past week by leading his team to a 19-6 victory over Winter Springs. Sam was 12-20 for 138 yards passing and one touchdown while also rushing for 89 yards. This week his team hopes to move to 2-0 on the season when they take on Ocoee this Friday.

Kyle Boyd: Kyle had 5 tackles and one tackle for a loss in Mesquite (TX) Horn's opening 13-0 loss to Coppell but they turned things around this past week defeating Lake Highlands 48-21 with Boyd making 6 tackles and returning a fumble 94 yards for a touchdown. This week they look to get their second victory of the season when they take on Hebron this Friday.

Tad Ecby: The Houston St.Pius X (TX) High School wide receiver is off to a solid start to the season. He had 4 catches for 141 yards including an 87-yard catch for a touchdown during their 33-7 season opening victory over Trinity Christian Academy. This past week did not go as well as they were defeated 57-6 by Sealy High School. Ecby had 3 catches for 110 yards and scored the lone touchdown. This week they play their first home game of the year against Episcopal High School on Friday.

Devin Lemke: the Iowa Falls (IA) Alden High School defensive end told Cyclone Sports Report that his first two games of the season have been very frustrating due to the fact that the opposing teams are completely running away from his side so is barely made any tackles. They won their opener 27-6 against Hampton Dumont but then lost this past week 35-14 to Webster City. This week they play Clarion Goldfield.

Darian Cotton: It has been a rough start for Mount Pleasant Community (IA) High School as they dropped their first two games of the season but Darian has played well in both. In their 28-20 opening loss to Clear Creek-Amana he had 6 tackles and then he went for 10 tackles during their 38-21 loss this past week against Williamsburg. This week they look to get their first victory of the season when they take on Fairfield.

Sam Richardson: The Clear Springs (TX) High School defensive back is the only Cyclone commit to get off to a 2-0 start so far and he has definitely helped the cause as he had 9 tackles in their 40-23 opening victory over Dawson. He then had 6 tackles and a 75-yard kick off return for a touchdown this past week in their 44-37 win over Bryan High School. This Saturday they look to stay undefeated when they take on Cinco Ranch.

Ted Lampkin: Omaha Central (NE) High School is off to an 0-2 start but wide receiver Ted Lampkin is definitely not the reason. He had a huge game in their 21-16 opening week loss to Omaha Burke that included 6 catches for 133 yards and an 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. In their 15-8 loss this past week to Omaha North he did not have any catches but he did have a 70-yard punt return. This week they hope to get their first win of the season when they take on Millard North High School.

Kenneth Lynn: Dallas Kimball (TX) High School is off to a 1-1 start and Kenneth is definitely making his presence felt. They won their opener 49-14 against Adams High School and Lynn had 3 tackles and an interception. This past week they dropped a slugfest 60-47 to Madison as he had 4 tackles and 2 passes defended. This week they take on Lincoln High School. Kenneth also informed CSR that he will be taking his official visit on October 9th for the Utah game.

Jevohn Miller: Brooklyn Guernsey Malcolm (IA) High School is off to a 1-1 start and linebacker Jevohn Miller has started off his senior season very well. In their 42-6 opening loss to Iowa City Regina, he had 10 tackles and a blocked punt that resulted in their only touchdown. He also rushed for 40 yards on the night. This past week they rebounded by beating English Valleys 44-7 as Miller had 12 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery. This week they take on Montezuma as look to get their second victory of the season.

Jared Brackens: The start cornerback suffered a second degree tear of his ACL during their team scrimmage three weeks ago which led to him missing the team's 22-21 overtime loss to Rowlett. Due to early morning and lunchtime rehabilitation sessions he was able to return to help the North Mesquite (TX) High School defense hold North Garland's offense to only 77 yards of total offense. He totaled two tackles in the 17-7 victory and he will back on the field Friday when they play South Grand Prairie.

David Irving: The San Jacinto (CA) defensive end had 4 tackles for loss and 2 other tackles during their opening 34-31 loss this past weekend to Heritage. This week they hope to get on the winning track when they play Lakeside High School.
