Texas athlete set to visit Iowa State

The Iowa State coaching staff is always looking for versatile athletes and Austin (TX) Reagan High School's JaQuarius Daniels is one that will be welcomed to Ames this weekend when the Cyclones take on Northern Iowa.

Cyclone Sports Report: Which Iowa State coach has been recruiting you?

JaQuarius Daniels: Coach Herman has been the main guy.

Cyclone Sports Report:What position do you play for your school?

JaQuarius Daniels: I play quarterback, outside linebacker, and safety.

Cyclone Sports Report: What position is Iowa State recruiting you to play?

JaQuarius Daniels: They told me for either quarterback or wide receiver.

Cyclone Sports Report: Do you have a preference?

JaQuarius Daniels: I prefer to play quarterback but if they move me to wide receiver I would be fine with that.

Cyclone Sports Report: What does Coach Herman like about your game?

JaQuarius Daniels: He told me that he likes that I'm big and have speed. He just told me that I'm an athlete with a natural feel for the game.

Cyclone Sports Report: Do you have an offer from Iowa State?

JaQuarius Daniels: No, my only offer at the moment is from Texas UT-San Antonio.

Cyclone Sports Report: What other schools are recruiting you?

JaQuarius Daniels: Illinois, TCU, Texas A&M, Baylor, Kansas State, Kansas, and Houston.

Cyclone Sports Report: What is your current height and weight?

JaQuarius Daniels:I'm 6-foot-4 and I weigh 220 pounds.

Cyclone Sports Report: What will you be looking for during your visit this weekend to Iowa State?

JaQuarius Daniels: I want to see how the coaches and players react with each other. I also want to see what their academic situation is and what their facilities are like.

Cyclone Sports Report:Have you talked with Coach Rhoads?

JaQuarius Daniels: Yeah, I just talked with him yesterday. He just wanted to get to know me better and to check on my grades and stuff. I have a 3.1 grade point average and my test scores are fine so that is no problem. He's a good dude and he seems like he really cares about his players.
