Brun high on Cyclones

Anyone who has seen Iowa State play this season knows how important the play of tight end Collin Franklin has been to the success of the offense. Mt.San Antonio tight end Ernst Brun has taken notice and likes what he has seen from the Iowa State offense. This weekend he'll get to see things up close when he takes his official visit to Iowa State.

"They are recruiting me the hardest and they offered me a scholarship last week," said Brun. "Once they got my transcript and saw that I was okay academically Coach Elliott called me and we talked and then he put Coach Rhoads on the phone and they offered me a scholarship."

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end likes how Iowa State used their tight end.

"One thing that I'm always worried about with each school is how they use their tight end because I don't want to go somewhere that doesn't throw much to the tight end," said Brun. "They like that I can kind of do it all at the tight end position. I can block and catch the ball well because they like how I use my body to get open and to catch passes. They also told me they like my athleticism which I think was helped by the fact that I used to play basketball. I guess you could say I'm kind of like a wide receiver playing tight end because I can get outside and run past cornerbacks."

Ernst has also enjoyed getting to know Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads over the phone.

"I like him a lot and I can tell he wants to win and that he knows what he is doing," said Brun. "He talks to me about their offense and how they have been putting up a lot of points."

While Ernst made it clear to CSR that Iowa State is his clear leader at the moment he does have other options that he is considering.

"I also have offers from Houston and Memphis and I'm hearing from Kansas State and TCU."
