English set to visit Iowa State

Dallas (TX) Maceo Smith High School's Keithen English recently made a verbal commitment to Memphis. Will an official visit to Iowa State this weekend be enough to possibly change his mind?

"I'm not really sure yet because I am still committed to Memphis but there is a possibility that I might change my mind if like what I see," said English. "I was looking to make my decision after the season but Memphis has been showing me a lot of love so I just decided to commit to them."

The 6-foot-4, 323-pound offensive lineman also has offers from Kansas, New Mexico, Louisiana Tech, Western Kentucky, New Mexico State, and most recently Iowa State.

"Coach Bray came down to my game last week and then they offered me soon after that," said English. "Coach Bray is real cool and I also got to talk with Coach Rhoads. He told me that he likes my quickness for a big man and that I have quick feet like a running back."

So what position would Keithen play if he changed his commitment to Iowa State?

"I don't know yet because they feel I good at both guard and tackle," he said. "They just told me that they would determine that later."

When English takes his visit to Ames this weekend he'll already recognize one familiar face.

"I know Jared Barnett through a couple family members," he said. "We have known each other for a while and have gone out to eat before. He told me that Iowa State is a really good school and that the coaches are really fair with all the players."
