The 5-foot-11, 190-pound all-purpose back is a very versatile player but he says all the schools recruiting him are only looking at him for one position.
"Pretty much everyone is just looking at me to play running back," said McDaniel. "Some teams are looking to split me out in the slot which is fine but I feel running back is my best position because I get it done playing at that position."
His 2010 stats seem to back up the fact that he is getting it done on the field as he has helped lead his high school to an 8-0 record by rushing for 1,190 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Cam currently holds offers from Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Navy, Stanford, Tulsa, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Air Force, and Army.
He told Cyclone Sports Report about another reason for his interest in Iowa State and what he'll be looking for when he arrives in Ames this weekend.
"Coach Wells has made it clear that with Alexander Robinson graduating this year that I would definitely have a chance to come in and compete for a starting spot next season," said McDaniel. "This is huge because I'm hoping to get on the field right away. When I'm on my visit this weekend I just want to get a feel for where the program is going. I'm the type of guy that wants to win and so I want to see what the players mentality is throughout the weekend."
So when is Cam looking to make a final decision?
"February 13th is signing day and that might be the day I make my decision and it might not," he said. "I'll be praying about it and when I get confirmation from God I'll make my decision right then and there."
