Lee all set for visit to Iowa State

Romulus (MI) High School point guard Ray Lee talks exclusively with Cyclone Sports Report about his recruitment, where things stand with Iowa State, and on when he'll be in Ames for a visit.

Cyclone Sports Report: How many offers do you have so far and what other schools are recruiting you pretty hard?

Ray Lee: I have three offers and they are from Iowa State, Baylor, and Toledo. The other schools that are talking to me the most are Nevada, DePaul, Xavier, Minnesota, Indiana, and Dayton.

Cyclone Sports Report: When did Iowa State start recruiting you?

Ray Lee: This past July is when they started looking at me. They saw me play in AAU tournaments and then they have been to my school twice in the fall.

Cyclone Sports Report: Which Iowa State coach is mainly recruiting you?

Ray Lee: Coach T.J. (Otzelberger) has been recruiting me. He's a really good guy and we have talked a lot.

Cyclone Sports Report: What has he told you that he likes about your game?

Ray Lee: He told me that he likes my ability to break down other players and how I can easily get into the lane. He also likes how I spread the ball around as a point guard to the wings and to the post players. He also likes my athleticism for a point guard.

Cyclone Sports Report: What is your current height and weight?

Ray Lee: I'm 6-foot-3 and I weigh 175 pounds.

Cyclone Sports Report: Have you taken any visits yet and do you plan on taking a visit to Iowa State?

Ray Lee: I have been on an unofficial visit to Michigan because it's about 20 minutes away. I will be going to Iowa State this week for a visit with my coach. I'll be going to Baylor next summer for a visit and I'll likely be taking visits to Xavier and Dayton.

Cyclone Sports Report: You are a 2012 recruit and Iowa State has three guards that will be graduating at the end of the 2011 season. Is that a factor that could help Iowa State?

Ray Lee: Yeah, that could play a huge role because I feel players develop better by playing so I'm definitely looking for a school that will look to me to come in and make plays right away.

Cyclone Sports Report: Have you been able to speak with Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg?

Ray Lee: Yeah, I talked with him twice so far and he just told me about what Iowa State has to offer me and how he is trying to turn things around for the program. He feels that I could come in and make plays for him at point guard.

Cyclone Sports Report: Do you have a time frame for when you want to make your final decision?

Ray Lee: I'll probably make a decision before my senior season but right now my dad wants me to wait until the end so I'm not exactly sure yet.
