Green enjoys trip to Iowa State

College of Sequoias (CA) defensive tackle Louvan Green is a major recruiting target for the Iowa State coaching staff and he clearly felt the love during his visit this weekend to Ames.

"I really liked it a lot and I thought Coach Rhoads was real cool," said Green. "He just told me that he felt I could make a big impact and that they really needed me. I would say that Iowa State and UNLV are probably recruiting me that hardest."

The 6-foot-4, 300-pound defensive tackle was clearly impressed with his time in Ames but not enough to pull the trigger on a commitment.

"I like that I could come in and play right away but I still plan on taking my other visits," said Green. "I have now been to UNLV and Iowa State and next weekend I go to Baylor. Then after that I'll be going to Nevada the next weekend and I'm still trying to schedule something for Oregon State. Those are my top five schools."

Green, who is originally from Fresno, California was recently named Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year with 42 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, and one interception.
