Ashaolu talks with CSR

When it comes to Iowa State basketball recruiting only Cyclone Sports Report provides you with the interviews that you want. Today we caught up with Olu Ashaolu to see where things currently stand with his eventual transfer from Louisiana Tech.

Cyclone Sports Report: It's been reported that you have cut your list of schools down to Iowa State, Oregon, and San Diego State. Is this correct?

Olu Ashaolu: Those are my top three at the moment but I'm also still talking with TCU, Xavier, Marquette, and UCLA.

Cyclone Sports Report: What do you like most about Iowa State?

Olu Ashaolu: I like the fact that I already know Melvin Ejim and Chris Allen. I have practiced and played against Melvin a while back and Chris and I used to have some great AAU battles down in Atlanta. I also like that they have Coach Fred Hoiberg and I'm also getting along well with Coach T.J. (Otzelberger) so far. He's a pretty cool guy.

Cyclone Sports Report: Have you talked with Chris or Melvin recently?

Olu Ashaolu: Yeah, I spoke with Chris and he just talked to me about coming to Iowa State so that we could play our games together. He feels that with Coach Hoiberg he would help us get to the big dance and that he could also help us then get to the NBA.

Cyclone Sports Report: What do you like most about Oregon?

Olu Ashaolu: I like that they have Devoe Joseph there because he's a close friend that I played AAU ball with and it would be fun to play with him again.

Cyclone Sports Report: What about San Diego State?

Olu Ashaolu: I like how they used Kawhi Leonard this past season. I feel I'm a tweener forward like him that can play inside and out and so I could possibly fill that role for them.

Cyclone Sports Report: Do you have a timetable for when you want to make a final decision?

Olu Ashaolu: Yeah, I won't be making a final decision until the end of May.

Cyclone Sports Report: Have you taken any visits yet?

Olu Ashaolu: No, I'll start taking visits in May and I'll definitely be going to visit Iowa State, Oregon, and San Diego State. I might also take a few other visits.
