Will Cyclones take a chance?

Iowa State will lose wide receiver starters Darius Darks and Darius Reynolds at the end of the upcoming 2011 football season. One potential recruit that has noticed this fact is Missouri City (TX) Elkins High School's Chance Allen.

"I have been doing my research on some of the teams and I know they are losing a few guys," said Allen. "We run the spread offense like they do at my school so that's another thing about Iowa State that I like."

The 6-foot-2, 188-pound wide receiver told Cyclone Sports Report that Iowa State is definitely one of the school's that is recruiting him the hardest.

"I currently have offers from Tulsa, New Mexico, Oregon State, and Iowa State," said Allen. "Their running backs coach (Kenith Pope) had come down to my school about a month ago and then they made an offer to me a couple weeks ago."

Chance said that the Iowa State coaches watched his highlight tape and came away very impressed.

"They said they like that I have big hands and how I go up for jump balls," he said. "They like that I can get on top of cornerbacks. They also said that they like that I'm willing to go across the middle and were impressed by how I get in and out of my breaks."

Allen knows what he is looking for in a school but isn't ready to make a final decision any time soon.

"Early playing time and finding a place that feels like home will be really important along with my relationship with the coaches," he said. "I'm not sure when I'll ultimately make my decision but I'm probably going to wait until the fall to make my visits."
