West commits to Iowa State

Cyclone Sports Report talks with Willis (TX) High School's Quan West who ended his recruitment Monday night by committing to Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads.

Cyclone Sports Report: When did Iowa State start recruiting you?

Quan West: Coach Herman saw me play this spring and they also saw my film. Then they offered me a scholarship a few weeks ago and then Coach Herman came by one more time.

Cyclone Sports Report: So how does it feel to have your recruitment over and to know that you'll be playing your college football in the Big 12?

Quan West: It's pretty amazing because I really like what Coach Rhoad's has done with the program the last two years. I feel like this is just the start of it and that each year is going to get better. I prayed about my decision and I just felt Iowa State was the best spot for me.

Cyclone Sports Report: Have you visited Iowa State yet?

Quan West: No, but I'll be doing that during the summer. I can't wait to see the town, the facilities, and to meet with all the coaches.

Cyclone Sports Report: What do the Iowa State coaches like most about your abilities as a player?

Quan West: They said they really like my aggressiveness and blocking and also my size. They like that when the ball is in the air that I really go and get it.

Cyclone Sports Report: What is your current height and weight?

Quan West: I'm 6-foot-4 and I weigh 208 pounds.

Cyclone Sports Report: What other scholarship offers do you have?

Quan West: My three other offers were from Western Michigan, Tulsa, and Colorado State.
