Cyclone Sports Report: Who is mainly recruiting you for Iowa State?
Sean Culkin: Coach Shane Burnham is the main guy and we have a good relationship. We stay in contact a lot and he really seems like a good coach. He's been by my school before.
Cyclone Sports Report: Iowa State has used the tight end a lot under Offensive Coordinator Tom Herman over the past two seasons. Is this something that Coach Burnham has addressed with you?
Sean Culkin: Yeah, I like how they put their tight end in the slot and flex him out. They told me they use him a lot and I like the sound of that.
Cyclone Sports Report: What do the Iowa State coaches like most about what you do at tight end?
Sean Culkin: They like that I'm a physical guy on defensive backs and that I can create mismatches against linebackers. In high school, I play a lot of wide receiver and catch a lot of passes but I also don't mind blocking.
Cyclone Sports Report: Are you expecting to take a visit to Iowa State?
Sean Culkin: Yeah, I might be coming up in July for one of their camps because I know they would like to work me out. I'm not sure yet because I am very busy with basketball. I hope I can because it would be a great opportunity for me to see their facilities.
Cyclone Sports Report: Have you taken any visits lately?
Sean Culkin: Yeah, I have been to USF and I just back from Northwestern and Wisconsin. Those schools are all recruiting me but haven't offered at this point. I also went to camps at FIU and Miami (Fla.)
Cyclone Sports Report: Do you know when you will be looking to make your final decision?
Sean Culkin: I wouldn't mind being committed by the end of the summer but I might wait until the end of my season. I'll be taking my visits and then at some point I'll know when I'm ready to make the final decision.
Cyclone Sports Report: What will be the most important factors in your decision?
Sean Culkin: The facilities will be important and I definitely want a school with a fan base that is excited about their team. I just want to see where I fit in with the players and coaches. Building a relationship with my position coach will be huge because I will be around them so often.
