Rhodes to Make Announcement Soon?

After having a positive experience in Ames during summer padded camp, League City (Texas) Clear Creek defender Jackie Rhodes would like to make a decision, and soon. But one thing appears to be standing in the way of that happening.

Iowa State has yet to offer the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder that turned heads in camp with his athleticism and coverage skills. Rhodes has forged a bond with recruiter DeMontie Cross and the staff in Ames and is still waiting for his first scholarship offer from a Division I program.

"I don't know what I'm going to do yet, but more than likely I'm going to be coming up to Iowa State," said Jackie Rhodes, who keyed his team to a 9-1 record and Class 5A playoff appearance last fall. "They haven't offered me yet, but have talked to me about playing football there. I'm going to weigh my options. I've heard from Tennessee, Colorado and Texas."

What were memories from ISU's summer camp?

"I liked it up there," he said. "The coaches stayed on you to keep playing hard."

The Clear Creek defender recorded five interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, 46 tackles and 10 pass breakups as a junior, leading his team to a 9-1 record and Class 5A playoff appearance.
