What's Holding O'Meally Back From ISU Pledge?

The Cyclones are trying to sign a JUCO cornerback. Ellsworth (IA) player Corry O'Meally would like to be that guy. One hurdle remains, and it's something he spoke about at length with Iowa State assistant Shane Burnham

A month ago, Ellsworth (JUCO) cornerback Corry O'Meally was deciding between two schools: up-the-road Iowa State and Appalachian State.

Sunday night, O'Meally said he had stopped hearing from Appalachian State and was ready to commit to Iowa State.

One hurdle remains, however, and it's something he talked about at length with Iowa State assistant coach Shane Burnham on an in-home visit Tuesday.

"We talked about the grades I have now, the grades I need to get," O'Meally said Sunday night. "The visit was great. Just checking in on the grades."

Ellsworth's fall period ends Thursday, after which O'Meally can send his transcript to Iowa State to make sure everything is satisfactory.

If it is, he'd like to fill the Cyclones' need for JUCO cornerback.

"I plan on committing once the semester is over," O'Meally said.

O'Meally and Burnham also scheduled an official visit to Ames for Jan. 18.
