Iowa State commit Victor Holmes was one of five Iowa State official visitors over the weekend, which included an Iowa State basketball game over Iowa, a night at an arcade and a breakfast with Paul Rhoads.
AllCyclones.com caught up with Holmes while he was on a layover in Dallas, waiting for a flight back to Houston.
The 2014 safety from La Porte (TX) has been an Iowa State commit since May and this weekend was his second time to be in Ames.
"It was great," Holmes said. "I enjoyed the weather — it's way different than Houston, there's snow on the ground — and the coaching staff is great."
Holmes was impressed by the Bergstrom football complex and the support given to Iowa State student-athletes.
"The learning program, they've got your back," Holmes said. "It's impossible to fail if you're an athlete."
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Holmes is one of four safety commits in the 2014 class (two are JUCOs and the other, Reggan Northrup, is a fellow prepster).
Holmes had Chris Klenakis over for an in-home visit during the first week of the winter recruiting period and is a very solid Iowa State commit.
