Three Midwest schools are hot after Lyman (FL) linebacker Greg Gooch, who expects to take two more visits before announcing his decision in late January.
Iowa State currently leads for the 2014 hybrid player, as that's the only school Gooch as visited (Oct. 3).
"They showed me what they had to offer," Gooch said Monday. "I loved it."
Indiana and Cincinnati are the others in the mix for the 6-foot-1, 240-pound Gooch, the No. 49 middle linebacker in the 2014 class.
"The latest for me, there's really nothing happening," he said. "I'm taking a visit to Indiana sometime in January and then hopefully to Cincinnati.
"I'll decide after my last visit."
On his Iowa State visit, a 31-30 Cyclones loss to Texas, Gooch was impressed with defensive coordinator Wally Burnham, who coaches the linebackers.
Gooch says he can also grow into a pass-rushing defensive end. He spent much of the offseason developing a quicker burst.
"The spring went well," Gooch told Scout.com over the summer. "I got quicker this offseason. I worked hard on my speed, that's one of the priorities that I want to stay on top of."
Gooch reports other offers from Mississippi State, FAMU, UConn, Memphis, Arizona and Wisconsin.
