Surprise Skill Player to Visit ISU

Iowa State could be the last visit for a hotly-recruited ball-carrier from Florida

Iowa State has one running back committed in its 2014 recruiting class but is looking for another after Tommy Mister withdrew his verbal pledge the day after Christmas.

An interesting name has emerged for the Cyclones. Remember Marlon Mack? Iowa State was recruiting the Sarasota Booker (FL) three-star running back before Mack committed to UCLA this fall.

[Update: Mack withdrew his commitment from UCLA, reports Jan. 16] can report Mack has planned to visit Iowa State over the weekend of Jan. 31. Mack is visiting Louisville this upcoming weekend and UCLA the weekend after.

Mack is the No. 58 running back in the 2014 class. The Cyclones are also recruiting Michael Warren, an Oklahoma product who burst onto the scene this fall, and will visit Mister on an in-home the next few days. Both players are planning on taking official ISU visits in the coming weeks.

Says's national analyst Brandon Huffman of Mack:

"Mack came out of nowhere to commit to UCLA in the fall. Mack plays on both sides of the ball, and has been compared by Scout's Florida analysts favorably to former Florida two-way prospect Fabian Moreau, who came in as a running back and is now starting at corner for the Bruins. While he was originally ranked as a safety by Scout, UCLA will bring him in as a running back. That said, he recently told an independent blog that he committed to UCLA to drive up more attention in him, so with Starks in the fold and still a possibility for (OU commit, Joe) Mixon and (Tre) Watson, UCLA could choose to go in a different direction, but for now, Mack remains committed."
