Ayeni Meets ISU Coaches, Plans Ames Visit

The Cyclones are looking to add a JUCO defensive lineman for their 2014 recruiting class

In the time Terry Ayeni was offered by Iowa State )a few days before Christmas) until now, the JUCO defensive end has skyrocketed up the Cyclones' wish list.

A convoy of coaches — Paul Rhoads, Louis Ayeni and Shane Burnham — met with Ayeni on Monday for an in-home visit, which ultimately resulted in the scheduling of an official trip to Ames for the weekend of Jan. 24.

"It was great," Ayeni told AllCyclones.com. "[Iowa State] has opportunity, history, they're a well-known school and they're in the Big 12. This weekend I'll find out what else I can like about them. So far, I like everything about them."

Ayeni, the New Mexico Military Institute lineman whose teammate Edmond Boateng had an ISU offer before signing with Arizona State, is a 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive lineman with the capabilities to play on the edge or slide inside to three-technique defensive tackle.

Recently, Ayeni eliminated West Virginia from consideration and will likely take a Jan. 31 trip to USF. He visited Northern Illinois over the weekend and gave it high remarks.

Ayeni is a May graduate who'll sign in February with three years to exhaust two seasons of eligibility. In 2013 he recorded seven sacks and 14 tackles for loss.
