The Cyclones filled in the gaps of their non-conference basketball schedule Wednesday morning, announcing a slate of 12 games — along with an exhibition against Viterbo (Wis.) — including dates for the annual contest versus Iowa and the Hy-Vee Big Four Classic.
Times and TV information will be announced later, along with the Big 12 conference schedule.
The highlights: A trip to New York over Christmas break to face South Carolina (this had been reported prior), which Jameel McKay would be eligible for; another SEC contest against Arkansas; Georgia State went 25-9 a year ago and of the three starters it returns to a lineup, Ryan Harrow (the former Kentucky and N.C. State player) should be fun to watch; the CBE Classic in Kansas City will see ISU play two games against a pool featuring Arizona State, Maryland and Alabama.
The lowlights: It's not like the home non-conference schedule was loaded last season, but Michigan and Iowa made for a nice, buzzy tandem ...
Oakland's misery (13-20, 7-9 in league play) at least ought to be nullified by the excitement over ISU's opener; there are four total stinkers in Mississippi Valley State (No. 347 of 351 teams per kenpom in 2013-14); Lamar (342); UMKC (273) and Southern (207).
