Coordinator Speak: Burnham Talks Cowboys

Iowa State will face Oklahoma State quarterback Daxx Garman and his big arm Saturday in Stillwater, Okla., and defensive coordinator Wally Burnham knows his young secondary must be prepared

The talk from coaches when looking ahead to Oklahoma State has often been that of quarterback Daxx Garman and his strong arm.

"I think he’s a very good football player that throws a very good deep ball, and that’s scary," coach Paul Rhoads said Monday. "Some guys can throw them all, some guys are better underneath, he throws a really good deep ball with a lot of touch and they throw it a lot of times in a game. It only takes three of those successful and you’ve got 21 points on the scoreboard. That’s a scary piece as we start our preparation."

Defensive coordinator Wally Burnham has been busy in the early part of preparation attempting to get his young secondary ready for the challenge of defending those passes come Saturday morning.
