Rugamba, a 2016 receiver from Naperville Central (IL), still hasn’t been offered by Iowa State, but currently holds offers from Illinois and Illinois State while also drawing interest from various other Big Ten, Big 12 and MAC schools including Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
The Cyclones haven’t put many offers out to 2016 prospects yet, but Rugamba has been told they’re interested.
“I've heard that they have high interest,” Rugamba told AllCyclones.com. “I was told that I'm amongst the top 2016 kids they're looking it.”
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound receiver was in Ames in August, and after making various visits this fall, he decided to make a stop with McMillen at Iowa State during the Cyclones’ home finale Saturday.
“I liked the atmosphere they had on senior day and they showed they can throw the ball well,” Rugamba said. “I enjoyed watching the offense.”
Rugamba still has a ways to go in his recruitment. He is keying in on academics and how he feels at each school in evaluating his decision moving forward as more offers are expected in the coming months.
The goal for Rugamba between now and his senior season is shortening his steps on routes and restacking on defensive backs. Those things, he feels, will help him take another step forward.
“I feel that my IQ is good and I can get separation with strong hands and make plays both at slot and split out,” Rugamba said.
