Landen Akers Commits to Iowa State

Iowa State has picked up a commitment from Cedar Rapids Washington receiver Landen Akers

Iowa State has picked up another receiver with the addition of Cedar Rapids Washington reciever Landen Akers.

Akers, who picked up an Iowa State offer following Iowa State's game against Texas Tech on Nov. 22, was visited this week by receivers coach Todd Sturdy. He committed and is currently set to grayshirt for the Cyclones next season.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Akers picked up his Iowa State offer following a strong senior season in which he made All-State as a defensive back and All-District as a wide receiver while helping his team reach the state finals. He was a high school teammate with 2015 offensive line commit Julian Good-Jones.

"I'm really excited and I was really excited at that moment. I'm still excited. It's an awesome opportunity," Akers told Scout.com after picking up his offer. "They are going in the right direction. It's going the right way. I know they haven't done really good in the past few years, but I think they will in the next few years."
