January 17, 2015.
That date has been marked on calendars for some time now. When Iowa State hosts Kansas at Hilton Coliseum that night, there is a good chance ESPN GameDay will be in Ames to televise what will likely be a top-25 matchup between the two Big 12 foes. The weekend could be big for other reasons.
The Iowa State football team will use that critical weekend to host the majority of its 2015 Class on official visits. It will also bring in prospects with two weeks remaining before National Signing Day.
While commits Stephon Brown and Devine Ozigbo have already made their official visits during the season, commits Bobby McMillen, Bryce Meeker, Anthony Nelson, Dominic DeLira, Seth Nerness, Jordan Wallace, Julian Good-Jones, Marcel Spears, Denver Johnson and Landen Akers are all expected to make the trip to Ames.
In addition, Iowa State is scheduled to host JUCO offensive tackle Jaypee Philbert, who recently committed to Arizona State, and high school defensive tackle De’Amontae Jackson. There are likely to be other new names that arrive in Ames that weekend, as well, making it quite possibly the biggest recruiting weekend in the Paul Rhoads era.
