For Breck School (Minn.) receiver Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman, the pending summer could be the most important stretch in his progressing recruitment.
Bowman, a 6-foot-3, 188-pound receiver, has drawn interest from schools across the Midwest, but has yet to land an offer. With schools watching intently this summer, Bowman hopes that soon will change.
“Really where all the schools lie at that are interested in me, they’re all waiting to see me perform in front of them,” Bowman said. “Most of the schools have come out to my school and because I’m in Minnesota and I go to a private school, they love my film but they just want to make sure. I think that’s a small setback, but it’s a small setback that can be overcome very easily just with balling out and I know that’s what I’m going to do at camps.”
Bowman has drawn interest from the likes of Minnesota, Iowa State, Northwestern, Purdue, Stanford and Michigan State among others. Three Ivy League schools, Harvard, Yale and Princeton have shown the most interest.
As for Iowa State, Bowman said interest from the Cyclones has thus far come primarily from mail, although he has had some contact with coaches through a former teammate.
Bowman attended the adidas Combine in Chicago during spring break and has seen interest rise since.
“Recruiting really started to pick up after I went to the adidas Combine in Chicago over spring break,” Bowman said. “The combine was comprised of 40s, vertical, shuttle, but also we did some one-on-ones and I know there were a lot of important people there watching me. Personally I had a great camp, ran fast, jumped high and was quick in the shuttle and once we got in the one-on-ones I did my thing.”
The next step will be summer camps, where Bowman hopes to grab offers. He plans to attend the Northwestern camp June 12 and the Stanford camp June 18 with multiple interested schools set to be in attendance.
“As of now I’m looking to get my most interest this summer, especially through the camps,” Bowman said. “Get the offers that I would like. By the end of the season I want to be committed.”
