Frank's Recruitment Heating Up

2016 Oswego (Ill.) quarterback Steven Frank is drawing interest from all over, and is waiting to see what Iowa State thinks after summer camp in Ames.

The recruitment for Oswego (Ill.) quarterback Steven Frank is heating up, and despite the up-and-down stressful times of recruiting, the options are beginning to line up for Illinois’ top quarterback.

Frank, who already held offers from the likes of Boston College, Illinois, Minnesota and Vanderbilt among others, added offers from UConn and Wyoming on Wednesday. Iowa State has shown strong interest in Frank, who is now waiting to take the next step with the Cyclones.

“I know they really just want me to come to their camp,” Frank said of Iowa State. “They want to see how I’m going to fit into their offense before they offer and just see how I can do in that offense. That’s basically what they told me is they just want me to get up to camp. They’ve come by to see me throw twice now and I’ve been up there once. We’re going to see once I make the camp how that goes.”

Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads stopped by Oswego in January to briefly see the 6-foot-4, 231-pound quarterback while running backs coach Louis Ayeni stopped by during the evaluation period.

Frank stopped in Ames for Junior Day back in March and has been interested in hearing from Iowa State since.

“I just loved all the facilities there,” Frank said. “I’m going to know Bobby McMillen who is going there, I’m really good friends with him and Jamaal Richardson went to my school so I know him fairly well. Just knowing people there [is nice] and then the facilities were awesome.”

Frank has already made visits to Illinois and Bowling Green in addition to the Cyclones’ Junior Day. He is working on plans for summer visits in addition to his June stop in Ames for camp.

“Iowa State is the one camp I know I’m going to because I really loved their campus and everything there,” Frank said. “I’ll take a few visits. I’m not really sure where to yet, but I’ll probably figure those out. Boston College will probably be one I visit because they’re on top of my list for visits.”

As for a timeline, Frank hopes to wrap up his recruitment by mid-summer. That could be shortly after camp at Iowa State where he hopes to draw an offer to make a complete decision about his future.

“I’m really trying to commit at least by the middle of the summer if not earlier,” Frank said. “I really just want to focus on my senior season and have a great year with the team. That’s probably where I’m at with it and trying to visit as many schools as possible once summer hits and make my choice then.”
