Brooks Adding Power 5 Offers

Stratford (TX) High School linebacker Jordyn Brooks has netted a number of Power 5 offers, and Iowa State is the latest after several evaluations.

Jordyn Brooks saw Iowa State in attendance multiple times during the spring evaluation period, and Wednesday his workouts in front of the Cyclones paid off when he received a call.

Brooks, a 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker from Statford (TX) High in Houston, added another Power 5 offer to his list, this one from the Cyclones. The offer joins ones from Washington, Kansas and Texas Tech among others.

“The wide receivers coach [Tommy Mangino], we haven’t been talking that much, only about a month ago,” Brooks said. “Coach Mangino hit me up yesterday and he told me that he wanted to offer me.”

The recent weeks have been busy for Brooks as schools have stopped by his high school and his offer list has quickly been added to. Although contact with the Cyclones was limited, Iowa State got a close look at the linebacker before offering.

“They came by [several] times,” Brooks said. “They said that they think I’m a good fit for the defense. [Coach Mangino] said I remind him of a lot of linebackers they have right now and they like the way I play.”

Iowa State sees Brooks as an inside linebacker at the next level. He doesn’t currently have a timeline for a decision, but plans to make visits this summer in the south, although he and the Cyclones haven’t yet discussed a potential visit.

“I’m planning some visits right now,” Brooks said. “I’m not sure where to or when. I know sometime in June I’ll probably be somewhere like [Texas] Tech and later in the summer I’m planning for more southern schools that are kind of out there.”
