Dennis Wonnum Commits to ISU

Iowa State picked up its second commitment of the day Saturday evening with the addition of Georgia tight end Dennis Wonnum.

Iowa State offered Stephenson (GA) tight end Dennis Wonnum a few weeks ago, and the soon-to-be senior's visit Saturday was all he needed to see to make his decision.

Wonnum, a 6-foot-3, 218-pound tight end, attended Iowa State's special Golden Ticket Day held for a handful of recruits with offers Saturday, and by the time he left he had committed to coach Paul Rhoads and the Cyclones as the second commitment in the 2016 class.

In addition to the tour, Wonnum met with offensive coordinator Mark Mangino and got a close look at the engineering department, which he plans to major in.

"I met with my position coach, the tight end coach, and we discussed the plays and stuff that they run," Wonnum said. "We were just talking about my commitment and what I want to study and stuff like that."
