Everything is set for Solomon Young's official visit.
The 6-foot-6 forward from Sacramento (Calif.) confirmed to AllCyclones.com that he is on track to arrive in Ames on Friday for his official visit, which will run through the weekend. Young holds offers from the likes of Washington, USC, USF and UC-Irvine, though he said Washington and USC have cooled their interest.
St. Mary’s, USF, Nevada, UC-Irvine and Iowa State are showing Young the most interest with Texas now joining that mix. Young is a versatile forward who is able to play both the small forward and power forward positions.
Iowa State started recruiting Young in June when assistant T.J. Otzelberger remained on new head coach Steve Prohm's staff. Otzelberger had recruited Young when he was at Washington last season and now has picked up where he left off.
Young will now get a closer look at what Iowa State has to offer this weekend.
“I’m trying to get my officials done as early as possible in the fall because I plan to commit in the fall,” Young said in early August. “I’m trying to schedule more visits. If Texas offers a visit I would like to try to go down there on an official.”
