When Sept. 12 rolls around, much of the attention across the state of Iowa will be aimed squarely on the field at Jack Trice Stadium for the annual CyHawk football game. Yet there will be several faces in attendance that day who could eventually wear an Iowa State uniform just north at Hilton Coliseum.
Iowa State will take advantage of the big weekend with three official visitors, AllCyclones.com has confirmed. As previously reported, the Cyclones will get official visits that weekend from high school forward Jeriah Horne (Kansas City) and JUCO point guard Darrion Strong (Coffeyville C.C.). AllCyclones.com has learned that a third official visitor, high school forward Romello White, will also be in attendance.
With the commitment of JUCO point guard Donovan Jackson on Sunday night, Iowa State has begun work on what will be a large 2016 class. The Cyclones will need to fill at least six scholarships, not counting for potential attrition or the possible early departure of point guard Monte Morris following his junior campaign.
Iowa State is still interested in Strong as both he and Jackson are capable two-guards. The Cyclones are thought to have strong interest in Horne regardless of whether or not Solomon Young commits following his weekend official visit as they need multiple forwards and the two could compliment each other.
Don't expect Iowa State to host any official visitors Sept. 5 due in large part because of Labor Day weekend. After the busy Sept. 12 weekend, Iowa State has already set up multiple official visitors for Oct. 3 and another official visitor for Oct. 31.
