The same day Seffner (Fla.) Armwood defensive back Dedarallo Blue added an offer from Iowa State, the versatile prospect hosted Iowa State linebackers coach Tyson Veidt for an in-home visit Monday night.
The 6-foot, 185-pound Blue holds offers from Toledo, North Dakota State and Mercer. Toledo had shown strong interest, and that resulted in his first Power 5 offer when Matt Campbell departed for Iowa State.
Monday, he not only got his offer, but also a home visit from Veidt.
“The visit went very good,” Blue said. “He talked with my parents and answered any questions they had. Told me how they would use me in their defense. They see me as a nickel but I bring so much to the table. I can play SS and CB also.”
Blue, who is currently helping his 15-0 team make a run at the state title, will eventually stop at Iowa State for a visit, though no date is officially set following his in-home visit with Veidt.
“I'm planning on taking an official,” Blue said. “It will be my first official visit for sure. I feel like Iowa State is about to make a huge turn around with this new coach staff. The coaches are great.”
The self-described underrated prospect isn’t in a hurry to decide and currently plans on announcing his decision on Signing Day.
He does have a few factors in mind as he gets a closer look at schools once his senior season comes to a close.
“Just something that reminds me of my school I'm at now,” Blue said of what he’s looking for. “Great people, people that don't shy away from work, people that will push each other. Play for the name on the front of the jersey and not the name on the back.”
