Iowa State has added another potential weapon to its wide receiver corps for the upcoming 2016 season with the addition of Illinois graduate transfer wide receiver Marchie Murdock he told AllCyclones.com on Sunday.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Murdock, who spent the last three years at Illinois, will graduate in the coming months and arrive at Iowa State ahead of the fall. He will be eligible immediately with two years to play two. Murdock announced his plans to transfer from Illinois in January and committed to Texas State in February. As is the case with graduate transfers, Murdock didn't sign a Letter of Intent and could still be recruited until he enrolled.
After redshirting in his initial season at Illinois in 2013, Murdock caught one pass for 17 yards as a redshirt freshman in 2014. Last season he caught 20 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games, including a seven-catch performance against North Carolina.
Murdock helps add depth to a receiving group that recently saw Jauan Wesley mutually depart from the program. He could contribute immediately alongside the likes of Allen Lazard, Dondre Daley, Trever Ryen and others.
