Nogel, who joined the ISU Foundation in 1999, was named assistant athletics director for major gifts in June of 2002. He was responsible for major gifts fund raising, including capital campaign projects, endowments and gift planning.
"This is an unique career opportunity for me and with ISU being my alma mater, it makes it even more special," Nogel said. "I look forward to my continued work with the department in this expanded role."
Nogel helped complete the department's $10 million fund-raising campaign to build the Stephen and Debora Bergstrom Indoor Training Facility. He also implemented the "Investing Today to Ensure Tomorrow" initiative to help establish athletic scholarship endowments, as well as other special fund-raising projects.
Nogel came to the ISU Foundation from the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League, where he served as director of marketing and operations from 1994-97 until he was named vice president of the department in 1997. He was responsible for marketing, corporate sponsorship sales, promotions and game operations. He also has worked for the Greater Des Moines Grand Prix and interned in the Drake University's athletic marketing and promotions office.
A native of Des Moines, Nogel has been involved as a volunteer with the YMCA, Iowa Special Olympics and Iowa Games.
Nogel earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Iowa State. Frank and Cheryl Nogel have two children (Ashley, Joseph).
