Carstens, Whitver Honored for Academics

Iowa State defensive tackle Jordan Carstens and wide receiver Jack Whitver have earned positions on the 2003 CoSIDA Academic All-District VII football team.

It is the third straight season that Carstens has earned the honor and the second straight season for Whitver. Whitver, a graduate student in Iowa State's MBA program owns a grade point average of 3.43, was a second-team academic All-American last season. Carstens, who owns a 3.51 GPA in agricultural business, was a first-team academic All-American last season.

Whitver, a Grinnell native, ranks ninth on Iowa State's all-time career list for receptions with 92 catches. His 1,295 career receiving yards rank 10th on the all-time ISU career list. Whitver earned his bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science in his first three years as a Cyclone. He will earn his MBA in December.

Carstens, a Bagley native, has 279 career tackles with 21 tackles for loss.
