Pestano Giving Cyclones Serious Look

An official visit to Iowa State could come in the next few weeks for a talented two-way player from the Florida high school ranks. Lehigh Acres wide receiver/free safety Marcel Pestano is close to booking his trip to Ames for a weekend in December.

"I'm really interested in Iowa State," said Marcel Pestano, a 6-foot-1, 185-pounder with 4.5 speed. "I want to see what their program's like on my visit. I've met two of their coaches, but I want to meet the rest of the staff. They say they've got a good program, but are losing a lot of skill players and are really interested in me."

Pestano recently wrapped up his senior season at Lehigh Acres, compiling 70 tackles and four interceptions as a defender, and nearly 350 yards receiving and six touchdowns as a wideout.

He has scholarship offers from Syracuse, Louisville and ISU, and indicated that Pittsburgh would likely offer a scholarship in the coming weeks.

"I don't have any favorites out of those," Pestano said. "I haven't set any visits yet, but I'm trying to set one with Iowa State for the 12th of December."

Asked what position he'll play at the next level, Pestano said he had no preference.

"It doesn't matter what position, I just want to play," he said. "They're recruiting me on both offense and defense."

So what style of play does Pestano bring to the table?

"On offense, I can catch real well, run good routes, I'm fast and am kind of our possession receiver," he said. "On defense, I'm not afraid to hit."
