Visit to Iowa State Can Wait

Instead of making reservations to visit Iowa State next month, as he had originally planned, Jacksonville (Fla.) Andrew Jackson linebacker Charlie Daniels will take his show on the road in the second week of January.

But that's nothing against the Cyclones, as Daniels would rather be a part of something special in the history of the football program – the unveiling of the new indoor football practice facility.

"I think they've got a pretty good program," said Charlie Daniels, a 6-foot-1, 215-pounder that has already been offered a scholarship by ISU. "They're young and have a good coaching staff. I had a visit set up for the fifth of December, but changed it to the first or second week in January. I guess something happened to the indoor facility they were building, and they wanted to push it back so we could see the new facility."

Daniels is being recruited at outside linebacker and wrapped up his senior season at Andrew Jackson High by making more than 100 tackles, two forced fumbles, four sacks and returning one interception for a touchdown. Daniels earned first-team all-district and All-Gateway Conference honors.

He helped his team to a first-round playoff berth, but Jackson's postseason trip was short-lived as it lost to Bolles.

Along with ISU, Georgia Tech, Bowling Green, Mississippi, Louisville and Valdosta State are recruiting Daniels.

"They're all running about even; I can't pick any favorites until I take visits," he said. "Iowa State has offered me a scholarship."

Asked about some of his strengths from the linebacker position, Daniels had this to say: "They like my leadership. I'm very physical, athletic and have good fundamentals. I'd say my work ethic is pretty strong, too."
