Iowa City's Coleman Chooses Cyclones

Just days after securing a verbal commitment from West Des Moines Valley standout tailback Jason Scales, the Cyclones added another talented rusher from inside the state's borders.

Iowa City West's Greg Coleman chose ISU over scholarship offers from several programs, including Iowa, North Carolina and Oregon. Despite sitting out five games his senior season, Coleman nearly rushed for 1,000 yards to go with 13 touchdowns.

"Out of all the schools recruiting me, Iowa State offers me the best opportunities I could have athletically, as far as playing time early and in my career," said Coleman in an interview with CN last week. "I could be part of that class that puts a program back where it used it be. That offers me the best chance of that.

"Plus, Coach Alford is a great guy and is probably my favorite coach that I talk to on the phone. He and I talk and are really close. Out of any of the running backs coaches I've talked to, I'm the closest to him. He's an awesome guy. I feel like he's honest with me."

CN will have more on this huge commitment after an interview with Coleman this evening.
